The August Lineup Is ‘Incredible 2’

Join this elite group: The Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club, the Optimist Club, Dan Urbach-Realtor and the Pacific Palisades Baseball Association by sponsoring a film for Movies in the Park.

This will be the 16th year of showing free outdoor movies on Saturday nights in August at the Palisades Rec Center, 851 Alma Real.

The community event annually attracts thousands to the Rec Center’s Field of Dreams, as people picnic, chat with neighbors and kids play on the fields before the movie begins.

Movies in the Park, a nonprofit founded in 2004 by David Williams and John Wirth, who later were joined by Andy Frew and Brad Lusk. Together they lead fundraising, select movies, and create the on-screen and audio ads. They also take the microphone and make announcements on movie nights.

Every year the movie costs have gone up: most movies are now $595 and the “Incredibles 2,” which is scheduled for August 24 will be $675.

Williams wrote Circling the News “We are now looking for Community Sponsorship/Contributions to help keep MITP alive. Any amount is welcomed. We ask they contact us at moviesintheparkpacpal@gmail.com for address to send contributions and tax information for the nonprofit tax deduction.”

August 3 will be Arnie Wishnick night, and the movie “Back to the Future,” was selected by residents via Nextdoor and MITP Facebook.

August 10, the Wizard of Oz (1939) will screen.

August 17, is the popular Disney movie “Finding Nemo.”

August 24 will be the “Incredibles 2.”

August 31, “Black Panther” is scheduled.
