As residents approach Thanksgiving and the holidays, a moment of silent reflection, staying calm and praying, can help set the right tone.

Benjamin Franklin wrote “Thanks” in his personal papers on November 20, 1728.

For peace and liberty, for food and raiment, for corn, and wine, and milk, and every kind of healthful nourishment. – Good God, I thank thee!

For the common benefits of air and light; for useful fire and delicious water. – Good God, I thank thee!

For knowledge, and literature, and every useful art, for my friends and their prosperity, and for the fewness of my enemies. – Good God, I thank thee!

For all thy innumerable benefits; for life, and reason, and the use of speech; for health, and joy and every pleasant hour. – My good God, I thank thee!

Organizers of the Pray Project said, “You are invited to pray with us” this Tuesday, November 19, “We have so much to be grateful for.”

The prayer meeting will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will be followed by refreshments and fellowship at the Ronald Reagan American Legion Post 283, 15247 La Cruz Avenue. Rank and file petitioners as well as prayer beginners and skeptics are welcome.

“We will pray for you and with you,” said organizers. “Bring a friend!”

The Palisades Neighborhood Prayer Project ’24 is led by Nina and Dave Kidd and Pastors Joe and Cyndi Ramirez. For more information Email joe@revivela.net with subject line: “Prayer Project.”
