The once vibrant, well kept homes and greenery that was the Alphabet Streets in Pacific Palisades looks as if it was hit by a bomb after the Palisades Fire and now looters are sifting through the ashes, too.

I was just up in the Palisades with my 17-year-old son, visiting our property in the Alphabet Streets. I was shocked to find that several things had been disturbed since my last visit on April 7.
It appears someone — or multiple people — has/have been sifting through the ash footprint of the property. Items that were not there previously, including during a careful search with Samaritan’s Purse on March 7, had been tossed onto the driveway.
This is especially distressing because my mother’s cremains are buried in that area. I’ve been in contact with Alta Heritage and the city to find someone who can help me recover them, but I’ve had no success. Every time the site is disturbed, the risk of losing or compromising her remains increases.
Also upsetting, though not as distressing, is that a vintage metal pass-through mailbox, once attached to the house, is now gone. I’d been hoping to salvage and restore it to use in the rebuilding of our home. I’d waited to retrieve it until the Army Corps of Engineers had cleared debris, as the patio ceiling had been collapsing and unsafe to access. I’m heartbroken that it’s now missing.
I’m reaching out in hopes of:
a) finding someone who can finally assist in recovering my mom’s cremains, and
b) raising awareness that our property and I’m sure many others are not being adequately secured or protected.

This happened to us early on – very sad that people are profiting or trying to profit over others losses.
