Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin reported in an August 19 email that: “We need to stay vigilant and keep our neighbors in the loop when it comes to suspicious activity in the community.
Espin said, “There was an incident in the Alphabet Streets where someone was randomly throwing possible anti-Semitic literature on peoples’ driveways. This is categorized as a hate Incident. I completed a report for the incident, but I wanted to thank the community for being good eyes and ears and passing the information around to each other and to me.
“Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns in the neighborhood. BURGLARY:
August 1, 3:50 in the 15300 block of DePauw. Victim received alarm activation notification and returned home to see garage door and side door open. Suspect entered residence through side door.
August 12 to 15, 10 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the 1400 Block of Allenford Avenue at Paul Revere Middle School. Unknown suspect entered property through gate and accessed inner construction site through fence with a lock combination. The suspect removed property from the site and fled the location. This was the site of renovation project.
BURGLARY THEFT FROM VEHICLE:
August 3 to 4, 7 p.m. to 9:10 a.m. at Bashford Street and Galloway. An unknown suspect used a tool to cut and remove vehicle cover and then fled.
August 8, 7 to 8 :30 a.m. at the intersection of Bashford and Embury. The suspect broke a passenger window of victim’s vehicle and took victim’s property.
August 8, 4:20 a.m. in the 500 block of East Channel Road. The victim locked and secured vehicle. The suspects can be seen on video entering vehicle and removing property.
GRAND THEFT AUTO:
July 31, 5 to 8 p.m. in the 800 block of Via de la Paz. The vehicle was taken from the street.
August 6, 7:30 to 8:20 p.m. at Swarthmore and Friends Street. The vehicle was taken from the street.
August 7 to 8, 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., in the 700 block of Kingman Avenue. The vehicle was taken from the driveway.
August 12, 12:40 a.m., in the 17000 block of Porto Marina Way. The vehicle was taken from the driveway or street.
THEFT:
July 31, 4 to 5 p.m., in the 14700 block of Pacific Coast Highway. The suspect removed victim’s cell phone from a pouch attacked to the victim’s bicycle.
August 9, 1:25 p.m., in the 100 block of Kagawa Street. A package was taken from a porch.
