You don’t have to be Forest Gump to run in the annual YMCA/Optimist Club Track Meet this Sunday, May 21. If you want to have fun, the Palisades High School stadium track will be the place to be between 9 a.m. and noon. The annual track meet gives children, ages 3-12, the chance to compete in a variety of events.
In addition to children’s events in different age groups, there will also be four events for adults only. Parents, time to let your kids yell from the sidelines and give you advice on how you can do better.
If kids register before May 20, the fee is $20 and will allow a child to participate in six events: 25-, 50-, 100- and 200-meter runs, the long jump and the javelin (foam).
Adult registration is $10 before May 20 and will allow entry into the 25-, 50- and 100-meter dash.
The family 4 X 100 relay includes parents and children, and the registration fee allows participation in that event.
Everyone registering will receive a T-shirt. If you wait until the day of the event, registration is $30 per person.
The track will open at 8:30 for warm up and late registration. (Use the QR codes below to access the website.)
