Dr. Alan Castel will speak on “Ways to Enhance Memory and Learning: Facts and Fiction” at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 17, at the Palisades Library Community Room, 861 Alma Real. Hosted by the Palisades Alliance for Seniors, the event is free and open to the public.
Castel studies learning, memory and aging and is interested in how people selectively remember important information. The UCLA professor received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and after a fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, has been at UCLA since 2006.
He lectures internationally to people of all ages and has received several teaching awards. His work has been featured in the New York Times and Time magazine. He will be signing his latest book at Diesel Bookstore in Brentwood on Thursday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m.
