The Pacific Palisades Baseball Association (PPBA) annual Pancake Breakfast is called the second most wonderful day in Pacific Palisades (after the 4th of July).

Although there was a nasty, disastrous fire, it will not stop the PPBA from holding its annual event. With a small change of venue, the PPBA season starts tomorrow March 1.

This year, the breakfast will be held at the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center, 2551 Motor Avenue. The program starts at 7:30 a.m. Promptly at 9 a.m. Councilmember Traci Park will throw out the first pitch.

Games will follow, and last all day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Before the fire there were 450 youth registered, but as of game day, there are now 300 players participating.

PPBA Baseball Commissioner Bob Benton said, “Cheviot Hills Pony has graciously welcomed our families, and we are able to have our own PPBA teams play in the league against other PPBA teams as well as Cheviot. Our Shetland division is playing at SAMO Pony this year.”

This year there are four Shetland teams (ages 6-7), five Pinto teams (ages 7-8), seven Mustang teams (ages 9-10), six Bronco teams (ages 11-12) and two Pony teams (ages 13-14).

The season will run thorough Memorial Day.
