Currently there is no gym in Pacific Palisades, no place for exercise, and no place to get in shape for the thousands of people who have moved back to the community.
The Palisades Auxiliary Unit 283 will resume the pre-fire exercise classes that so many enjoyed at the Ronald Reagan American Legion Post 283. The Y’s Carlos Cordova and Alison Burmeister were popular instructors.
Classes will be held on Thursdays, are open to all members of the community and are FREE. No prior experience or special equipment is required. Classes will be suitable for all ages and will be led by an instructor from the Lowe Family YMCA.
From 11 to 11:50 a.m. there will be a low impact fitness class. That will be followed by a stretching class from noon to 12:50 p.m. Take one class or take them both.
The first class of 2026, will be on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
“Physical fitness and flexibility are so important to our physical and mental well-being and I are thrilled that we can bring this benefit to the community,” said Ruth Kahn, President of the Palisades Auxiliary Unit 283.

This is lovely. Thank you, Carlos and Alison and Co.!
Carlos Cordova or Carlos Janos?
This is great! Thanks for letting us know. I have been to this class in the past and it was excellent.
