Palisades Resident Zar Seeks Vote

Maryam Zar Seeks Your Vote

Maryam Zar, the Pacific Palisades Community Council chair emeritus, who has been serving as a 50th Assembly District delegate, is seeking support in the coming election.

Delegates attend the annual State Democratic Convention, network with other Democrats, elect Party officers, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures while representing their constituency.

Zar is a member of the L.A.City Commission on the Status of Women, chair of the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils, a contributor to the Huffington Post, founder of Womenfound (womenfound.org), and recently joined the Pacific Palisades Park Advisory Board.

She is the mom of three children, who attend public schools in Pacific Palisades.

Zar said, “American Democracy only works when people get involved at the grassroots level and make their voices heard in their communities. For a long time, I thought this great democracy was made in Washington, D.C.

“Over the course of the last several years, during which I’ve become proactive in local policy making and politics, I’ve learned that American Democracy plays out all over municipalities and state legislatures across this great land with the involvement of everyday people who engage in policy narratives and shape the discourse that leads to the laws we see implemented that impact our daily lives,” Zar said.

Assembly District voting will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, at Santa Monica College in the Humanities and Social Science Building, 1900 Pico Blvd (zip 90405).
