Recent Rains Keep Hills Green
According to Carol Leacock, the town’s County-certified rainmeister, the total rainfall here on Saturday, January 5, was .45 inches and we received an additional 1.20 inches over the next two days, bringing the total to 1.65 inches of rain.
Adding that amount to the rainfall received in December and October, brings the season total to 11.15 inches. Normal to date is 5.87 inches. In 2014, the Palisades had 5.69 inches of rain at this time and in 2105 the total was 5.74 inches. More rain is predicted this weekend.
The driest season, since local record-keeping began in 1942, is 4.11 inches in 2006-2007. The wettest year was 1997-1998 with 42.60 inches of rain.
