Members of the Task Force on Homelessness tried to get Timmy off the streets. He resisted the PPTFH efforts and died on the streets.

The Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness will host an online Zoom community meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 16, with featured speaker LaTina Jackson.

Jackson, deputy director at the L.A. County Department of Mental Health, will speak on “A Conundrum: Helping Mentally Ill Homeless People.”

The PPTFH first response team has seen an increasing number of mentally ill individuals on the streets here. The people are so mentally ill that they can’t recognize or accept they need help.

Two familiar faces on the Palisades streets are Ruby and Margaret. They have been here for decades, sleeping and living outside. Both have been offered help, both have refused.

There is a new DMH pilot program that specifically reaches out to the gravely disabled homeless individuals who refuse mental health services.

Please register in advance for the meeting and submit any questions you might have. According to PPTFH, “Let us know what you want to know!” Visit:pptfh.org.
