The Entrance to Temescal Gateway Park
To the editor:
National Clean Up Day is a Y initiative. Annually, nationwide YMCA’s partner with community groups/agencies to work on a project where help is needed.
This year the Y partnered with the MRCA (Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority) to help beautify the entrance to Temescal Canyon Gateway Park (across from Simon Meadow, at Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road).
We had several volunteers (kids & adults) join the work party and had several hikers, who came by said they would like to help next year.
We spent more than two hours and collected more than six truckloads of leaves, old bark and weeds from that corner, which will allow the MRCA be able to put down new mulch.
One lovely community member even gave us some money to get some cold drinks for the volunteers. If you would like to volunteer next year or need more information about the program let me know.
The Y pumpkin patch will open next week. Make plans to stop by.
