Experts have written about people’s emotional journey they go through when suffering a painful loss or life altering event: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
Those who have lost everything in the Palisades and Eaton Fires are being offered a place to deal with their emotions.
Renowned grief and trauma support organization griefHaven (click here.) is providing twice monthly free grief and trauma support Zoom groups for those who lost their homes in the Palisades Fire.
Meetings are facilitated by Palisadian and griefHaven founder and CEO, Susan Whitmore, and Dr. Denise Mandel. GriefHaven is a Palisades organization whose offices also burned down.
The meetings are every other Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. and the next meeting is January 12 and will continue every two weeks.
The meetings include a loving, confidential, and educational place to deal with the psychological impact of the fire with others who get it.
Meetings vary in size and drop-in, so people can come as needed. Meetings include grief and trauma support, talk time, education about what people are going through, and specific tools on dealing with this tragedy over time.
(NOTE:) This is not a place for people to exchange information about rebuilding. This is a therapeutic meeting for people to talk about their grief and trauma from the fire.
A few days prior to each meeting, an email reminder is sent to those on the group mailing list and includes the Zoom link. To put your name on the list contact hope@griefHaven.org or call (310) 459–1789.

I hope to be included in this evening’s meeting, as per the information I completed last night.
