Daniel Villasenor, Deputy Director of Communications for Governor Gavin Newsom requested a correction in a July 20 CTN story, clarifying that the state did not receive FireAid money.
California Volunteers Fund (nonprofit, fully independent of the state, supports programs that California Volunteers runs) https://www.californiavolunteersfund.org/
California Volunteers (state entity as indicated by .gov web address; did not receive FireAid funding) https://www.californiavolunteers.ca.gov/
CTN also asked Villasenor: 1) People in Pacific Palisades who have lost their homes are not getting insurance money, simply because insurance is not paying. Insurance constantly tells people their account is under advisement. As you might guess that makes rebuilding difficult. Could the governor issue an executive order, telling insurance they have to pay?
2) Additionally, could you ask the governor to lower the price of gas in California—The cost to rebuild is somewhere between $800 and $1,200 a square foot. But part of the problem, the trucks transporting materials and the workers who carry tools in their pickups have to pay the high cost for gas, which is jacking up prices.
3) And, we owned our solar panels, which burned in the fire. Since the governor is leading the nation with solar, will he find a way for those of us who had solar to get it again, maybe through a grant? We can’t afford to replace them.
Villasenor said, “I’ll be sure to pass along your questions.”

Hi Sue,
Just curious why yon posted such an old photo of Gov Gavin Newsom? His website has more recent photos which show how he looks now, rather than this one from many years ago. https://www.gov.ca.gov/
