A Light Lunch Served after the Seniors Program
The Palisades Alliance for Seniors will offer a special program at 10:30 on Monday, September 9, at the Palisades Library community room, 861 Alma Real. The program is open to the public and free of charge.
Speaker Julie Huffman, the Genealogy Librarian for the Los Angeles Central Library, will speak on “Genealogy: How to Find Your Family Roots (with some help from the Los Angeles Public Library).”
Huffman, who has held her position for five years (and was also a young adult, children’s and adult reference librarian), will discuss the basics of researching one’s family history.
She will explain how to search census records, military records, newspapers and more. Participants will also discover the many genealogy resources available at the L.A. Public Library.
Huffman’s heritage is Swedish, English, Scottish, German, Swiss and Canadian, but she is always striving to learn about all genealogical interests. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Library Science from UCLA.
After the program, attendees are invited to enjoy a light lunch on the library patio, offered courtesy of a grant from the Palisades Woman’s Club.
