Get Ready to Paint! Halloween Window Contest
The Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club is again sponsoring the annual Halloween Window Painting contest in the business district. Applications may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office at 15330 Antioch St. or downloaded from the PPWC website (theppwc.org).
A nearly 55-year-old tradition, the contest was started by the Palisades Chamber. The Woman’s Club has kept the tradition alive by encouraging youth to paint local store windows for Halloween.
This year’s theme is “Ghosts & Goblins.” All windows in the Village, on both sides of Sunset, may be painted WITH OWNER PERMISSION.
Which store owner north of Sunset (specifically in Palisades Village) will be the first to allow painters?
Once kids ages 3-13 obtain permission, they start painting windows on Saturday, October 20. Painting must be completed by October 24. Only washable tempera paint may be used. Tape the application in the corner of the window and take a photograph. Photos must be submitted via email to info@theppwc.org, no later than October 26.
PPWC members will judge the windows based on four criteria: originality, artistic ability, neatness and theme. Winners will be announced on October 31.
There will be one winner per age group (Under 5, Under 8, Under 11, Under 13), and mixed-age groups compete with the age group of the eldest child. All participants will receive a participant certificate.
