A resident shared the following video of people trying to break into cars in the Huntington Palisades area.

Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin sent the crime report on November 22. He reported that the Beach Detail Officers took a person into custody after stealing from one of the local stores a couple weeks ago.

“The suspect tried to run away, but Officers Smaldone and Suliman did an outstanding job of controlling the suspect and taking him into custody,” Espin said.

LAPD arrest a fleeing suspect.

He said that auto-related crimes still are prevalent and reminded people “not to leave valuables inside your vehicle. Most of our burglary/ theft from motor vehicles are crimes of opportunity.”

Espin also emphasized to let neighbors know if you go out of town, so they can be on the lookout around your property.  “The more eyes on the street and neighbors walking around and being visible is the best deterrent for crimes of opportunities.

“Enjoy the company of friends and family,” Espin said. “I am thankful for the great partnership and support the Palisades has shown me. Happy Thanksgiving.”
