A Window Between Worlds Offers Community Wellness Day

All are invited to join A Window Between Worlds (AWBW) for a community wellness day “Art in Times of Crisis” and Kintsugi-Inspired Art Workshop via zoom from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2.  AWBW supports hundreds of direct service organizations across the country to incorporate creative expression into their work with trauma survivors.

There will be shared stories of resilience from AWBW Founder Cathy Salser and youth Facilitator Sonia Hsieh Schumacher, who will share insights from their in-person Recovery Pod workshops supporting communities after wildfires.

As the year draws to a close, AWBW members and community are invited to gather to focus on rebuilding. December Wellness Day will center around the Japanese art of Kintsugi. This practice of mending broken pottery with gold highlights the beauty in imperfection and the idea that what was fractured can become even stronger and more valuable.

Through the lens of Kintsugi, participants will:

    • Reflect on the journey of the past year, acknowledging the challenges faced and the resilience discovered.
    • Uplift voices of strength and recovery within our community.
    • Be the first to experience our newest art workshop, a Kintsugi-inspired experience led by Windows Facilitator Kiyomi Knox, MSW, where one will be invited to create a tangible reminder of our collective and individual ability to rebuild and emerge stronger.

This Wellness Day will offer an opportunity to connect, to honor shared experiences, and to embrace the beauty and strength that comes from piecing ourselves and our community back together.

Community members invite you to join as we close this chapter of response and step into a future built on resilience and renewed hope.

Developed & led by A Window Between Worlds Facilitator, Kiyomi Knox, this will be a gentle space of connection and reflection.

All are welcome and no artistic expertise is needed. This workshop is something parents could enjoy with their children or families could do together.
