YMCA Executive Director Jim Kirtley is helping those impacted by the fires by keeping traditions alive, such as the pumpkin patch.
The Metropolitan YMCA sent a press release on December 22, noting that a free membership will be extended for another year and will automatically renew, that no action is needed by the member.
The press release stated, “We are proud to share that the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles will continue important fire-response benefits for all impacted families through 2026.”
The following benefits will be extended through 2026:
- A free YMCA household membership with access to all LA Y centers
- Free childcare and priority placement in youth programs
- Free Day Camp and one week of sleepaway camp for children
- Free mental health support and wraparound services
- Additional support, including subsidized memberships, case management, educational support, toddler care, and expanded early learning access – contact FireResponse@ymcaLA.org with any questions on how to access these.

The YMCA of Metropolitan LA, concluded, “We are honored to support our community as it continues to heal and rebuild, and we wish you and your loved ones a very happy holiday season.”
Big appreciation for Jim Kirtley and the tremendous thoughtfulness and care he has shown to Palisadians. Above and beyond.
