Sports Editor Steve Galluzzo Honored with Football

Sports editor Steve Galluzzo was presented with a signed football.

If a resident wants to know the history of any sport in Pacific Palisades, they only need to call Steve Galluzzo. He started covering the high school in 1998, when he was hired as the sports editor for the Palisadian-Post by editor Bill Bruns.

Not only did Galluzzo cover the high school, but he also covered annual events such as the Will Rogers 5/10K and the Turkey Trot. He covered Palisades Recreation Center sports and even covered kids playing sports at different high schools in the City.

Galluzzo is an encyclopedia of scores, titles, records and probabilities for all sports. He actually starting “stringing” for the L.A.Times in 1994, while he was still in college. He is still a contributor to the Times sports pages.

He has become invaluable to the Post and the Times because in addition to top-notch sports coverage, he has also honed his skill as an sports-action photographer.

The long-time Post sports editor said he started taking photos in 2012/2013 and credits another Palisadian and photographer Craig Weston with helping him take better photos. “He is one of my mentors, because I’d see him working at the Pali football games.”

Prior to the start of the September 5 Charter Bowl Football Game between Palisades High School and Granada Hills, Galluzzo and long-time videographer James Riley were honored with a football signed by members of the current team, in appreciation for their football coverage.
