Saved by a Story Will Hold a Salon November 1

Palisades resident Kathy Katims has hosted free writing workshops since 2020. She invited residents to come write to prompts, share or not share, while building community and letting unique voices be heard.

Although her home also burned in the Palisades Fire, she has continued writing workshops, (some virtual, some in person) for writers, aspiring writers, under-resourced youth, seniors, former foster youth, parents raising kids with neurodiverse children, people in recovery.

“We hope to uplift and support people by presenting stories on the theme of resilience,” Katim said and urged people to, “surprise yourself, step into flow, leave your inner critic behind, get your story on the page.”

Now, on November 1, a salon will be held with an evening of stories and music at the Blank Space in Venice from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

The evening will feature performances from KCRW deejay Chris Douridas; indie musician Mehro; award winning playwright and screenwriter Jessica Goldberg; comedian Al Madrigal; and singer-songwriter Priscilla Ahn.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will support the organization’s free writing workshops for under-resourced and under-represented Los Angelenos and survivors of the L.A. wildfires. For tickets, visit savedbyastory.com/salon-tickets/.
