Palisades High School students are asked, “Are you looking for someone to talk to who will listen and not judge what you say?”
Many students have gone through the trauma of losing homes and then losing their school and having to relocate the Sears building in Santa Monica. Those student have said, “Yes, I need someone who will listen.”
Now the program organizer Rachel Shader is looking for Sages, older adults, 60+ who will join the program, listen to students and also provide their lived experiences. The deadline to enroll is September 17.
Those thinking about applying should note the program dates, to ensure they can attend all sessions before signing up. If you have any issues or questions about enrollment, please contact Susana at susana@sagesandseekers.org.
Meetings will be at the Sears building (PaliHi South) 302 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica 90401 on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. on October 9, 16, 23 and 30; November 6, 13 and 20; with the final session on December 4.
Shader said, “This program is an opportunity to share your life experience with an interested listener. This forum engages participants in a thoughtful examination of how life is lived and how personal challenges are overcome. By sharing your story, students develop a greater appreciation of older adults and their legacies. Both generations discover commonalities and shatter stereotypes you have of one another. “
