Village Green President Cindy Kirvan and other members of the board are actively engaged in discussions with philanthropic benefactors (prior Palisades residents) who have offered to underwrite the creation and installation of a significant piece of public art on the Green.
This project is intended to honor the community, respect the tragedy of the fires and look to the future through something beautiful and inspiring.
“We are interested in sharing a presentation about the project with all interested community members. There will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation,” Kirven said. “And we are interested in obtaining comments and opinions on the project.”
Any community member who would like to attend should send their name and email address to “info@palisadesvillagegreen.org” and someone from the board will reply with a copy of the Zoom link for the meeting and the date.

The Village Green is/was an oasis of nature in our urbanized environment. Over the years, the space has been filling up with signs, storage lockers, trash cans, plaques, and temporary art installations. I think it a shame to add yet another monument/ filler that chips away at our beloved open space. Is there not another way to recognize and honor our recovery from this mutual trauma?
I’d rather not be reminded of one of the worst days of my life every time I look at the Village Green.
I agree with Kelly’s comments….!
