California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced he wants Pacific Coast Highway to be reopened by the end of May.
CTN has reached out to L.A. Mayor Karen Bass for more details about whether that means the National Guard will no longer be at checkpoints and if that means the checkpoints will go away. When she responds, there will be a story.
CD 11 Councilmember Traci Park has released a Pacific Palisades Public Safety Survey regarding residents’ thoughts about public safety click here.
At the bottom of the survey, it asks, “What are your three biggest concerns surrounding the rebuilding?” and it lists several options. According to the L.A. Times 56 percent of the properties burned, but that means there is still about half of the town who could return.
This editor selected “returning of amenities” meaning for the people who have moved back in they need a drug store and a second grocery story in the Village, so people have an alternative to Vons.
This editor also selected “other” and explained that Building and Safety continue to move the guidelines. One person wanted to rebuild exactly that they had before—but was told they needed a new survey and setback because that street now requires a setback.
If more people are to build back, the “goal posts” have to stop moving. CTN urges you to contact Park through this survey. You can also contact editor@circlingthenews with permitting problems.
