Emil Alle, a long-time Palisadian, died on December 12, he was 99. He was preceded in death by his wife and devoted partner of 77 years, Sunny, who died four months prior to Emil.
Emil’s love and support of family and country were dear to his heart. He was a devout Catholic and a World War II United States Navy Veteran.
Born December 2, 1926, he was a native of Boyle Heights. He graduated from Huntington Park High School, and then attended the University of Southern California, where he received a degree in business administration.
He met Sunny, a professional recording player who had traveled the world, who was performing at Bullocks on Wilshire. They married when he was 21 and Sunny 19. They first lived in Huntington Park, where they were parishioners of St. Matthias Catholic Church.
They built their house in Pacific Palisades in 1967. It was the same home they resided in, until the Palisades Fire destroyed it and all of their accumulated and cherished possessions.
Once they moved to the Palisades, they became active parishioners of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The couple would have seven children: Jim, Jayne Maria Mikie, Joe, Dan and John.
Emil had a passion for travel, tennis, golf skiing and history. He was a member of the Pacific Palisades Optimist Club and American Legion Post 283. Until this past January, he and Sunny were often seen walking five miles a day through the Palisades.
His devotion and love for his parents, sister and children were matched only by his commitment to community. Emil was an accomplished real estate investor and developer and enjoyed work and family until his final day.
The couple showed unwavering dedication to God and family. Emil’s presence will be treasured by all who knew him, and continue through many lives he has helped and positively affected.
