The town burned. Why?

Check the current new City Budget for the coming year. Funding for about 50 current firefighter positions has been eliminated. Hydrants have not been repaired, and more need repair. Fire trucks have not been repaired yet that were in disrepair before the January 7 and 8 fire.
The one reservoir in the Highlands is full I am told but covered. Correct me if I’m wrong but I do not think that reservoir was ever meant for drinking water. It was meant for fires. I hope I’m wrong about that. If I’m not wrong, why is it covered and how would that work in an emergency? The second, smaller reservoir on or above Chautauqua is still empty.
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass promised me she would never do a phony press conference. But since the fires she has held a press conference almost every day and has hired a team to post regular messages on X and other social media.
The Mayor is using the need and the presence of the National Guard and ICE to curb gang crime and illegal immigration as a distraction for her failure and complete misunderstanding about what’s needed to prevent fires every day of the year, regardless of the season.
Her Deputy, Mayor Brian Williams, oversaw the Police and Fire Departments and airport security, basically Homeland Security for the city, was investigated by the FBI for reporting fake bomb threats at City Hall. Williams was not even around during the fires. He was put on paid leave. The FBI filed charges against him two weeks ago and he immediately pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
I don’t feel the need to go further and discuss the ridiculous head of DWP whose salary is over $750,000 and failed miserably at her job.
Karen’s Inside Safe program has been a failure and costs over $104,000 per person to implement. Calls from the homeless for needed services go unanswered. Unreported homelessness has risen.

If they could find the 2.3 billion stolen by LAHSA, we could fix our broken fire dept. and build a hospital for the mentally ill on the streets, instead of spending insane amounts of money to build homeless housing that never happens and giving all the money to consultants. The grift and incompetence in the city has reached new heights and everyone Karen Bass hired is in on the grift. I agree , why are we still paying for the woman who runs LADWP who is criminally incompetent.
