Letter: Lost a Home, a Business, Moving Forward

Keetan was located to 1015 Swarthmore and is owned by Pamela Hayer.

I’ve always enjoyed reading Circling the News—and after the fires, your updates became an invaluable resource. It’s been both informative and reassuring to hear others’ stories and know I’m not alone in feeling this way.

How are you doing? From your articles, I gathered that you lost your home, and I’m so sorry. I can’t believe what we’ve all had to go through.

We lost our home as well—one we had just completely remodeled with top-of-the-line finishes. Landscaping was all we had left to do. On top of that, although our store building didn’t burn down, all of our inventory was damaged and taken away by the insurance company.

And of course we have not been able to reopen in the Palisades. We plan on coming back when more of the boutiques start opening.

It’s been a long and difficult road these past eight months. People say they admire our resilience, but to me, it’s less about choice and more about necessity. We just find a way to keep moving forward. After moving six times, we’ve finally purchased a town home in Santa Monica, and after months of searching, we’ve secured a new retail space.

I’m happy to share that Keetan is reopening next week at 1233 Montana Ave in Santa Monica! We can’t wait to see our loyal customers again. Many have moved away, but we’re hoping some will find us in our new spot.

If you’re able to mention our relocation in one of your posts, I’d truly appreciate it. And if you’re ever in the neighborhood, please stop by and say hi—it would be so nice to see you. We open on September 2nd.

Warmest Regards,

Pamela

I will look for the shop on Montana as I walk there every week. Glad that she is able to move forward.
