Joining a Lawsuit Regarding the Palisades Fire

Whole neighborhoods were destroyed during the January 7 Palisades Fire.

After printing noted photographer Chuck Rapport’s story and his request, asking if it was too late to join a law firm in a suit against authorities for the Palisades January Fire, numerous readers responded.

Circling the News does not recommend any one law firm, but the recommendations below came from other Palisades residents.  CTN is printing the suggestions, in case a person has not joined a lawsuit and would like to:

  1. Please inform Mr. Rapport that the October 31 podcast Three Homeless Guys had guest Attorney Trey Robertson who explains how one can join the lawsuit at this point. I believe joining has to be by year end. . . .Heart-breaking stories. click here.
  2. I lost my home of 56 years in January and have enlisted Walter Lack’s firm to sue California. Many friends and neighbors have joined. Walter is the “gold standard” for fire litigators in California, and I know him personally because he was friends with my father, Walter (who was honorary mayor and very active in No Oil). The reader also mentioned that the firm is now taking smoke damage cases, too. “I am trying to help others who have been devastated by this unnecessary tragedy and to help make sure that it is too expensive for California to ever be this incompetent again.”
  3. We registered with Frantz Lawsuit re the fire. It is different, I understand, because the Palisadians complaints and the suit’s spoils are not shared but are specific to the losses each person claimed. That might work best for Chuck.
  4. I was told the Frantz Law Group is still taking new clients (frantzlawgroup.com). I PRAY this helps Mr. Rapport.
  5. For a Palisades fire lawsuit try Frantz Law (James Frantz), lots of experience bringing lawsuits as a result of wildfires. They had a meeting in Santa Monica less than a month ago where new people got information.
  6. Pass this email along if you like matthew@boylelaw.com (Lead attorney. He has about 1,000 clients for the Pacific Palisades Fire. I’m sure if he can help, he will. I’m unsure about the statue of limitations.
  7. I just listened to Trey Robertson (one of the attorneys for the lawsuit) on the 3 Homeless Guys podcast and he said that you could still join the lawsuit (within 12 months) and sue for the emotional damages (I think?) but the 6-month mark was deadline for suing for property damages… There was def a 6-month and 12-month deadline for two different things. It would be a good idea to listen to that episode (Oct 31st episode) and get the details, but it’s not too late to join.
  8. ..The Frantz Group is still taking clients. I too lost similar treasures as I spent 30 years in show biz as a costumer and features editor for entertainment magazines and was also featured in a few. All gone now so I can relate to his loss.
  9. For property loss, you can join up to one year and so Boyle Law and others may be available for him.   Jeremy Padawer outlined all of the lawsuits on a website he set up, pacificpalisades.com.
  10. I don’t really know if it’s too late to join a lawsuit, but I was somewhat late myself and am being represented by Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.  It might be worth calling (213)443-3000.

  1. Diane says:

State and Local government burned our ENTIRE town down – it’s SO evil, it takes your breathe away. This was not a “natural disaster”, they let it burn for almost 3 days straight, it was EVIL I pray for legal justice one day.

  2. Stephen P Dickey says:

    Who Will End Up Paying?
If successful, the financial burden on the State of California would primarily fall on California taxpayers, though the state has mechanisms to mitigate or shift costs.

Local defendants like the City of Los Angeles or LADWP may use municipal bonds, reserves, or insurance, but the state’s share would still come from general funds.

  3. C Riera says:

In response to Steve Dickey implying litigation costs will be borne by all of us—perhaps these liabilities will persuade people to vote for competent leaders next time.

  4. Lea Lane says:

“perhaps these liabilities will persuade people to vote for competent leaders next time.”

Good luck with that. All of you will continue to elect the same incompetent, corrupt grifters and the current party in power will make sure that they stay in power through any means necessary.

But Newsome has nice hair and Bass has a nice smile so you’ve got that going for you.
