ABC10 investigation: Gov. Newsom brokered a bankruptcy plan that prioritized PG&E, French Laundry friend’s clients over PG&E fire victims.
By SPENCER PRATT
Seven years ago, [November 8] two days after Gavin Newsom was elected governor of California…one of Gavin Newsom’s biggest donors killed 85 people by sparking the Camp Fire on STATE managed land, because PG&E had faulty equipment that hadn’t been addressed in 99 years.
They destroyed Paradise, burning down nearly 20,000 structures, and PG&E were found liable for 85 counts of murder, and forced to pay a MASSIVE settlement.
But what did they do?
They paid Gavin Newsom. $208,000 dollars. And he bailed them out.
To this day, SEVEN YEARS later, many of PG&E’s victims have STILL not received their full settlement payments.
SEVEN YEARS later, 75% of Paradise is just burned out empty lots. Now you know why I keep saying the Palisades won’t be rebuilt in my lifetime.
Gavin Newsom’s friends literally destroyed Paradise, and to this day, only a fraction of it has been rebuilt. What a horrific showcase of Gavin Newsom’s impotence and corruption.
Doing the bidding of corporate lobbyists. Abandoning fire victims, allowing California towns to rot after fires burn through the neglected, overgrown forests.
Oh, and remember his infamous French Laundry dinner during the Covid lockdowns? Guess who was hosting that swanky dinner? A PG&E lobbyist.
Since that fire, have we learned anything? Has anything changed? Newsom is still neglecting all the dead brush. Communities like mine are still getting destroyed by fires on STATE land. And dozens of people are dying.
And what happens after the fire? We get ignored, neglected, and pushed out by his wealthy buddies to replace our families with high density housing.
It’s a sad day, and a horrific legacy for Newsom.

More about the CA Wildfire Fund: The legislation states that funds accumulated from the California Wildfire Fund can only go to utility companies, not private citizens who were affected by the fires. The three utility companies in the fund are Pacific Gas & Electric, southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric.
As of April 2025, the Administrator (CEA) has reimbursed PG&E for eligible claims resulting from the 2021 Dixie Fire in the amount of approximately $349 million ($349,904,107) and continues to review eligible claims related to that fire for future reimbursement. PG&E has recorded a total potential recovery of $925 million from the Fund for the 2021 Dixie Fire. click here.

Corruption, that’s all it is but no one will ever admit to it b/ c they would then have to admit to their own failures for voting and supporting such a corrupt, lying politician as Gavin Newsom is. No one ever likes to admit they were wrong
Enough about the French Laundry (and Nancy Pelosi’s hair appointment). It was a stupid mistake. Let’s move on. If you don’t like him, his term will end in a little over a year. I’ve got a home to rebuild.
Michael, the headline isn’t that Newsome was eating at a fancy restaurant while we were all restricted to our homes. It’s that it was paid for by PG & E. So it’s relevant today in highlighting the fact that Newsome works for his corporate sponsors and not for us.
“Despite all my rage I’m still just a rat in a cage”. Get used to it – this is what California has become.
@Michael: In order to “move on”, politicians like Newsome, Bass, and many many others need to be held accountable. That is NEVER going to happen, because you continue to elect these people and will continue to make excuses for them. YOU are the problem – own it.
