Councilmember Traci Park’s office is hosting a virtual Palisades Dog Park community meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 6. RVSP or call Park’s field deputy Arus Grigoryan arus.gregoryan@lacity.org or call (310) 756-8772 or  click here.

A meeting was held in October 2024 to discuss details, which included location and proposed medium.

Then people were told the park  would be located in Temescal Canyon Park, north of the playground and restrooms, which are just north Pacific Coast Highway. Two separate areas are planned: one for small dogs, one for large. Both would have 6-ft. high omega fence, agility courses, shade, benches for humans and hydration stations.

The design for the park was originally drawn up six years ago by RAP’s Craig Raines. Before the park goes forward, it needs to go through the community phase (the October meeting and now the November meeting), and then the design phase. The plan in 2024 was to open the park would be open to the public in June 2027.

The proposed artificial turf came under scrutiny, but participants were told that turf doesn’t require maintenance and if the community wanted grass or another substance, then the community would have to raise money for maintenance because Rec and Parks doesn’t have the resources.

  1. Leslie Campbell says:

Actually, both LA RAP and CD11 have responded positively to grass and natural turf options and the completion date may be soon than you think! Progress is being made…
