This editor appeared on Fox News with Marla Tellez to discuss FireAid on July 16. Tellez allowed this editor to speak about her concerns about the $101 million raised, which was intended for victims, but was instead going to nonprofits.
The concert held in January was intended for the victims of the Palisades/Eaton Fires on January 7, 8 and 9, to help with survival and ultimately rebuilding lives. Instead that money went to nonprofits, many of whom have no ties to either community.
Tellez, who has a wide audience, helped take this discussion to another level, which is now making national rounds
Congressman Kevin Kiley joined Tellez and co-host Elex Michalson on the 6 p.m. show tonight (July 24) to discuss why he asked U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to open an investigation into FireAid Funds.
“Tens of thousands of people in Southern California lost so much in the wildfires, including their homes and loved ones,” Rep. Kiley said. “Americans generously opened their wallets to help the people impacted by the wildfires. Every penny should go towards helping those people rebuild their lives. I am urging the Attorney General to open an investigation into the matter immediately so the people of Southern California can receive much-needed relief.”
The segment with Michalson, Kiley and Tellez can be seen here click here. Kiley also briefly addressed Federal Funds that could be going to help with the disaster: “I will say there is a lot of concern about making sure that the funding that is provided, if it ends up being distributed by the state or by Los Angeles, that it ultimately gets in the right hands and get to the people who need it. Because this is something that our state has not, and Los Angeles has not always had the best record of.”

Thank you Sue, for all of your great reporting. I loved your interview on Fox. I know you will keep up the pressure!
Loved your appearance, and was cheering you on from the living room. You were articulate and on point about these funds. Thank you for your brilliant journalism
Do you accept donations? Congratulations on your fine work. Glad to say Kiley is my Rep!
Looks like this is already having an impact. We’re following your work at Digital Music News Sue.
Kiley said one of the suspicious non-profits, California Native Vote Project, has handed back the money. Not sure how much we’re talking about, or if all of its was actually returned.
Any others returning money?
Paul–I haven’t heard–but I applaude them for doing it–I’m not sure others will follow.
Sue
Good work, Sue. Please keep up the pressure on these shady grifters. The entire state should be screaming at the politicians to look into this.
I haven’t heard anything about the DOJ investigation into this matter. Is there an update?
Bonta isn’t answering his phone–
