After debris removal from the Palisades Fire was almost 90 percent completed in the Palisades, L.A. County Department of Public Health posted health signs, Wildfire Safe Cleanup, at the corner of Chautauqua Boulevard and West Channel Road.
The signs specify what would should do when cleaning up ash debris, such as wearing a tight-fitting N-95 disposable respirator, goggles, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes and socks.
When inside, one is supposed to lightly mist with water and then gently sweep gently with a broom or wet mop and use a vacuum with a HEPA filter.
Outside, one is supposed to wash ash off all vehicles and outdoor toys, collect ash in a plastic bag and dispose of it in regular trash and direct ash-filled water to ground areas and away from storm drains.
Only a speed reader would be able to discern everything on the sign as they turn to drive up Chautauqua.
The signs were installed at the end of June and are a vision-sight hazard for traffic at a location that is already problematic.
Canyon resident Sharon Kilbride said, “What were they thinking? That intersection already has a huge problem and now the County has placed all this signage in this location.”
Councilman Traci Park’s field deputy Arus Grigoryan, in a letter to L.A. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s office asked if the signs could be moved, writing “Our office has received outreach from constituents regarding newly installed Public Health signs installed approximately three weeks ago, that are located at a point where visibility is already a concern for local drivers.
Grigoryan asked if the signs could either be removed or relocated to a less obstructive location. “Would you be able to assist us in determining if the Department of Public Health can evaluate this request and potentially relocate the signage?”
Not asked nor answered was the cost of the signs to the taxpayers, if the signs were needed, and why they were placed after most of debris removal was already finished.

More stupid and superfulous efforts, maybe it was done done for legal liabilities. Like their attorney’s told them this would avoid liability..
All just nonsense, as is the 25 mph speed limit
besides the fact that the city of 5 months too late advising on
cleanup….
Just take the signs down and add to trash can. If Lindsay Horvath was really concerned she would have never have posted these non-readable street trash signs in a traffic hazard location. She probably came across some left over signs while cleaning out her closet at work and assigned her deputy Zac to attach them to some random pole in the Palisades. That said, the community is still waiting on deputy Zac to answer Sharon Kilbride’s question at a months ago PPCC meeting on when the repairs on the beach side bike path bridge will begin.
Each time I drive by I wonder why this corner was selected. Maybe they are covering their behinds, as mentioned here. There is no way anyone driving by could read these.
