If a resident likes a good mystery – and a good food – plan on both at the Murder Mystery Dinner that will be held Rustic Canyon Recreation Center from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, at the Rustic Canyon Recreation Center, 601 Latimer Road.

While one is dining and figuring out who committed the crime, one will also be supporting the park/center, through the Los Angeles Park Foundation.

“Yes, get ready for a series of celebratory events at the Rustic Canyon Rec Center for its 100th anniversary,” resident and Pacific Palisades Community Sparkplug winner Vesh Zwart wrote CTN in a February 4 email. This is the first in a series of events planned.

Zwart said that a theater group will stage and perform the Murder Mystery and a local caterer will supply “delicious food for every taste, including vegetarian.

“The setting in the 1923 Uplifter’s Club House and its surrounding grounds are the perfect backdrop for a murder mystery,” Zwart said. “As we move back in time to figure out what gruesome events took place here, many, many years ago…let’s also enjoy being alive and in each other’s company.”

Cocktail attire is required, because there will be selected drinks, and attendees are asked to bring a “sense of mystery” and a “sense of humor.”

Residents are urged to quickly sign up because there is only room for the first 100 people. Individual tickets are $180 and one can reserve a table of 10 for $1,800. Or if you want to help the park, but are out of town, simply donate. To reserve a space, visit: https://www.laparksfoundation.org/laparks_events/murder-mystery-dinner/
