The Tangarca restaurant located in Culver City will bring their food to Pacific Palisades.

Annual PaliHi Football Fundraiser Will Get the Season Underway

The Taste of Tangaroa, the  Second Annual “Taste of” event to benefit the Palisades High football team, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, at a private home. The event is limited to 100 guests.

Johnathan Franklin, who was a standout athlete at Dorsey High School and a record-setting running back at UCLA, will share his story. Franklin still leads the Bruins in all-purpose yards (4,925) and career rushing yards (788 carries for 4,620 yards). The Football Writers Association of America voted him First-team All-American.

Johnathon Franklin will be the speaker at the fundraiser.

Drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Franklin was forced to retire after his rookie season due to a neck injury and a concussion. Football was his life and it was taken away. Through the process of finding himself, he started working with the Rams in 2016 and is the now the manager of community involvement for that organization, working to find ways to aid various Southland communities

Food at the August 25 event will be provided by the Tangaroa Fish Market + Raw Bar of Culver City, which prides itself on serving fresh New Zealand seafood.

One YELP reviewer wrote: “’Kia Ora’ is a New Zealand greeting from the Maori language that literally means ‘be well’ or ‘be healthy,’ and Tangaroa exudes the kia ora tradition with great seafood and drinks.”

Join owners Mark and Suzy White at a private home in an exclusive gated community in the Palisades for an al fresco dining experience. Enjoy a menu made with the freshest local ingredients while enjoying stunning ocean views and sipping summer cocktails.

One hundred percent of all ticket sales will benefit PaliHi football, including helmets and pads and bus transportation to and from games. There will also be a small silent auction at the event. If you cannot attend but would like to support the program, email paliqbclub@gmail.com.

The Pali Quarterback Club is a nonprofit that supports the school’s football program.

The cost is $100 and tickets may be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/taste-of-tangaroa-benefiting-pali-football-tickets-64627533693.
