Will Be the Theme at Seniors Meeting Monday

The 1928 spiritual song “Dem Bones” will not be the topic of discussion at the Palisades Alliance for Seniors Alliance program at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 23, in the Palisades Library community room, 851 Alma Real.

However, “Foot and Ankle Ailments” is the topic of the talk by Dr. Arash Hassid, director of the SoCal Foot and Ankle Center. The program is free, and the public is welcome.

As people age, they are increasingly vulnerable to foot issues such as nail disorders, corns/calluses, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, hallux valgus, edema, neuropathy, and heel and arch pain.

Foot problems and pain can inhibit daily activities, leading to a decrease in mobility that can exacerbate other age-related conditions. Hassid will answer questions about these problems and discuss approaches and interventions that can alleviate pain and improve function.

Hassid is a podiatry foot and ankle surgeon who has been in practice for 14 years. He is a member of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, and is board certified in foot surgery with the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery.

The doctor completed a three-year comprehensive foot and ankle surgical residency at the Veterans Administration Program, West LA, and UCLA. He received his D.P.M. from the California School of Podiatric Medicine, Samuel Merritt College, and his bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from UCLA.
