Seeking Secret Palisades Thespians for Roles in ‘Steel Magnolias’

Theatre Palisades his holding auditions for its next show “Steel Magnolias,” by Robert Harling, that will run from January 10 through February 16, at Pierson Playhouse, 941 Temescal Canyon Rd. Shows will be 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and on Sundays at 2 p.m.

Director Brandon Ferruccio and producer Sherman Wayne will audition actresses on November 9 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on November 11 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Callbacks will be November 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Please provide a head shot and resume and be prepared to cold read from the script, using your best Southern accent. All roles are open to any ethnicity.  Sides are available at theatrepalisades.com/auditions.html. Visit: theatrepalisades.org.

THE CHARACTERS:

Truvy (W 40 – 50’s): Owner of a small-town beauty shop. A Dreamer, full of energy, and knows everyone’s business and shares it with anyone who will listen.

Annelle (W 20 – 30’s): A very shy “hair-dresser” new to hairdressing, but hopeful of a future. She’s the outsider.

Clairee (W 50’s – 70’s): Widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin. Bit of the Grande Dame. She is sarcastic, wealthy and knows everyone’s business.

Ouiser (W 50’s – 70’s): A force to be reckoned with, she is wealthy, eccentric, and quite the curmudgeon. She doesn’t suffer fools easily.

M’Lynn (W 40 – 60’s): Mother of Shelby. She is over-protective and a busy woman who worries too much for her age, never gossips, and wants what is best for her family.

Shelby (W 20 – 30’s): A confident dreamer who is very much her mother’s daughter. She’s the prettiest girl in town, and has an absolute sense of who she is, and loves naturally being the center of every room that she’s in.
