Annelle (W 20 – 30’s): A very shy “hair-dresser” new to hairdressing, but hopeful of a future. She’s the outsider.
Clairee (W 50’s – 70’s): Widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin. Bit of the Grande Dame. She is sarcastic, wealthy and knows everyone’s business.
Ouiser (W 50’s – 70’s): A force to be reckoned with, she is wealthy, eccentric, and quite the curmudgeon. She doesn’t suffer fools easily.
M’Lynn (W 40 – 60’s): Mother of Shelby. She is over-protective and a busy woman who worries too much for her age, never gossips, and wants what is best for her family.
Shelby (W 20 – 30’s): A confident dreamer who is very much her mother’s daughter. She’s the prettiest girl in town, and has an absolute sense of who she is, and loves naturally being the center of every room that she’s in.
