COLONY – VENICE + PALISADES
Venice Welcomes the Palisades from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, “Shop, Support and Rebuild Together” in a family-friendly event.
This community gathering and benefit to support Pacific Palisades residents and small businesses affected by the wildfires will be held at the Colony, 401 N. Lincoln Boulevard.
The event is organized by Colony in partnership with Councilmember Traci Park and Council District 11.
In the wake of the fires, six displaced Palisades restaurants have found a temporary home within Colony’s kitchens in Venice and Santa Monica. These include Sasabune, Taj Palace, Armav, K Bakery, DELIzioso, and Cinque Terre West.
During the day, food from more than 20 restaurants will be featured including local vendors, many of whom were impacted by the fires. Each participating business was offered a space at no cost, allowing them to keep 100% of their proceeds from sales or donations.
At noon, a karate exhibition will be held by Gerry Blanck students.
Music will be provided by a community jam session, hosted by The Amazing Music Store, starting at 1 p.m. lasting until 4 p.m.
There will be a live painting auction and a photo booth.
Also participating in this benefit are Palisades Beautiful, Resilient Palisades and the Molly Steinsapir Foundation. There is free street parking near the venue, but customers are reminded that Lincoln can be busy, and ride share options may make more sense.
MARQUEZ CLEANUP:
Palisades Beautiful is hosting a cleanup at Marquez Avenue and Bollinger Drive, at 16650 Marquez Avenue on Saturday, June 7 starting at 4:30 p.m. The site is across from Ronny’s Market, near the elementary school. “We plan to work from 4:30 to p.m. to 6 p.m. Feel free to join at any time,” organizers said. “We will be picking up litter from the parkway hillside, which burned.
“There are branches/leaves (palm fronds) that we will also try to remove. While our focus will be on cleaning up, we will also try to add some small native plants to help the environment recover faster and make this hillside a bit more beautiful.”
Gloves, grabbers and trash bags will be provided. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and bring their own water. Long pants and sleeves are recommended. https://www.palisadesbeautiful.org/
