The Ford family, which owns the property that encompasses Ralphs, Palisades Car Wash, Pharmaca and the former Norris Hardware, has jointly announced with the Anawalt Lumber Company that Anawalt will go into part of the Norris space.
According to a February 17 email from Leland Ford to Circling the News, a soft opening is projected in early May, with a grand opening targeted for June.
In a February 17 letter shared by Ford, Anawalt President and CEO Rolando Robles wrote, “Anawalt Lumber Company is proud to announce the opening of our new location in Pacific Palisades. This will be Anawalt’s fifth location and will be named Anawalt’s Palisades Hardware.
Robles said that Rosie Maravilla will run the Palisades Anawalt and that “this location will be different wherein our current locations have a full-service lumber yard; this location will be a full-service hardware store.”
Robles said that this store will stock plumbing, electrical, paint and sundries, hardware, housewares and nursery hardlines–but no lumber.
He told CTN in a February 17 email: “We are so excited to join the community!”
The Norris Hardware lease expired on the 11,731-sq.-ft. building in August 2018, and after a lengthy wait to get the necessary City permits, the store interior has most recently undergone renovations. The space has now been split into two stores.
The new hardware store will occupy 7, 900-sq.ft. in the portion of the store closest to the car wash. Ford said that a lease for the front space has not been signed, yet.
Hallelujah!
Dave Anawalt was/is(?) a PP man, went to Palihi. Anawalt family is going to be thrilled with their location choice, I think. Palisadians had probably taken Norris for granted after decades, but discovered we needed it. My guess is that Anawalt PP will be minting money!
I’m with you! Life without a hardware store hasn’t been as nice.
Yay !
