This is the Palisades Library, after the fire as seen from the park.

Friends of the Palisades Library will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 22 at the Westwood Branch Library, 1246 Glendon Avenue in Westwood. The Westwood Community Room is connected to a patio, which the Friends will use if the weather permits. Parking is available in the library’s parking structure.

As well as serving as a community gathering, Susan Orlean, the author of the New York Times bestseller The Library Book, will be present. She will speak briefly about the special place that libraries hold in heart and minds of people.

There is not an agenda for the meeting, and it is not an informational session. Friends President Laura Schneider wrote “This will simply be an opportunity for PPLA members and other community members to reconnect with each other.”

People are asked to RSVP to Schneider via email to laurablue@mac.com, with the number of people who plan to attend.

Schneider writes “Our hearts are broken but our spirit is strong. I look forward to seeing you.”
