Thanks to the efforts of Councilmember Traci Park and her field deputy Arus Grigoryan, the field of mud that filled city streets in the Santa Monica and Rustic Canyons in Pacific Palisades were cleared last week. The homes in the Canyon largely avoided the fire, but then were hit with mud.
The Palisades Fire denuded hillsides and with the heavy rain on February 13, the result was immediate as waves of mud clogged streets and flowed into some homes.
Santa Monica Canyon Sharon Kilbride wrote that “Arus escalated our request as an emergency to Street Services Superintendent Langston Phillips.”
Phillips not only ordered a crew to the area to start cleanups on February 20, but accompanied his crew to the site. The cleanup took about three days to complete.
“Neighbors were pleased about the immediate response from our City Council member who reacted promptly and cleaned up our neighborhood – keeping residents safe from debris,” Kilbride said.
I would like also to thank Arus Grigoryan . I spoke with her at the Westside Pavilion and she was so helpful.
