The FireAid Committee released the second phase of grants
click here. On the website it said the committee is composed of "L.A. based philanthropy experts."
The website notes “The final phase of grants will be coming by year end. Please share your thoughts on where help is still needed by emailing us at
donations@fireaidla.org.
All the FireAid money has gone to nonprofits, which supports them, but does not help the victims. Help is needed in rebuilding homes. There is a gap between what insurance is paying and the cost of construction. Every resident in Palisades and Altadena who lost a home in the fire needs to email the committee and request money to help rebuild.
Send the email to
donations@fireaidla.org.
Subject line: enter either The Palisades or Eaton Fire.
In the message: put your name and the address of your home. Write a simple summary. “Hi, we lost our home in the Fire and do not have enough money to rebuild. The FireAid funds would be helpful. You can verify our address with L.A. County Assessor Jeff Prang. He will be able to tell you the value of our property before and after the fire. I look forward to receiving aid that was meant for victims such as me. Thank you.”
Urge everyone in Pacific Palisades and Altadena to send the email and let’s see how “FireAid’s Grants Advisory Committee responds. It seems they think that nonprofits, many of whom do not serve either community directly, are more important than people trying to rebuild and move back to their community.
EVERYONE needs to send an email. please pass this onto people you know in Altadena.
I Hi Sue. Thanks for the “fireaidla” address. I’ll let you know. Tony, Palisades Bowl, now in exile in Long Beach! Take care.
Perhaps the Attorney General should require nonprofits who received grant monies that do not and have never done anything in the Palisades or Eaton to return the funds for redistribution to victims. There is no reason for them to be able to keep and use funds that were donated to help fire victims. Where is the oversight?
Entities receiving funds should be required to demonstrate and account to state authorities how the funds received have actually been used to assist victims in the Palisades and Eaton. There should also be legislation passed to ensure this type of situation cannot happen again.
I am a fire victim of the Palisades fire and require funds to continue to rent. Please let me know how you aid displaced people in this way. Thank you.

If you are a victim of the fire and need help, please directly contact the non-profits that received Fire Aid grants. They ARE helping those who lost housing and need services. The list of non- profits is on the Fire Aid website. http://Www.fireaidla.org.
Megan,
I’ve contacted many and don’t see the aid. If victims are given money, they can buy their own food and own clothes, without having to contact someone to take handouts.
