The planting at George Wolfberg Park at Potrero will be discussed.

Tuesday, April 25 – American Musical Journey

A children’s program will feature Martin Espino at 4 p.m. taking participants through a musical journey in the Americas. It will feature indigenous music North, Central and South America.  There will be music from desert, rainforests, mountains and beaches. This program is one hundred percent interactive for all ages. The audience is gently guided to sing “easy-to-sing” songs and perform on a wide variety of Native percussion instruments.

Wednesday, April 26 – the Ecological Restoration of George Wolfberg Park

To understand how the plants were selected for the George Wolfberg Park, join at 6:15 p.m. on Zoom. Hear the saga of the five-year process (after the re-grading and slope stabilization were completed) of re-introducing water and wetland habitat/vegetation to the canyon to create a self-sustaining ecosystem of native plant species typical of coastal canyons in Southern California.

Learn how these plantings mitigate the fire risk for the adjacent homeowners and how the new park was designed for residents and visitors to experience and enjoy the canyon.

Richard Fisher, a Landscape Architect with the Bureau of Engineering’s Architectural Division, will tell us the story. RSVP to palsds@lapl.org for the Zoom link.

Saturday, April 29, Teen Council

The teen council “Leading Change” program will include a composting program on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Palisades branch library, 861 Alma Real. The program will be led by Resilient Palisades, and teach participants how to comply with the new green bin rules. Visit: lapl.org/branches/palisades
