Musings
MUSINGS CHANGE:
Many readers have asked this editor how they can find a musing that has run in the past. Prior to today, musings were not stored in a searchable form. CTN is trying a new method that would allow readers to search via a topic or a date. CTN has also cleaned “up” the home screen to allow focus to go on the stories.
This editor doesn’t like ads when she’s reading newsletters and thanks to readers’ subscriptions, it allows CTN to keep out ads. And, rest assured, unlike some sites, your email is not being shared or sold to outside agents.
CONCERT SUNDAY:
This Sunday, May 17, at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, the Chancel Choir with guest singers, many from Pacific Palisades will perform Maurice Durufle’s Requiem. The Concert is free, but donations are welcome. You may have heard of French composer Maurice Durufle and his Requiem. It’s popular with performers and audiences alike. It, too, is melodic and beautiful. Durufle finished writing his Requiem in 1947. With a reputation as a perfectionist, he revised the piece in the early 1960s.
SWIMMING SUCH A JOY:
If you haven’t made it to the Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center to swim laps or do water exercises in the lessons pool, it is so easy and with the latest pricing, one can swim for as low as $7 a session. Today at 10 a.m. there were five of us swimming in the big pool. We’re inviting a few more of you to come and take this opportunity – but not a whole lot it’s great having an own lane. As Santa Monica Canyon resident and Urban Designer Doug Suisman said today as I jumped into the pool, “we need just a few more people to keep this going.” https://www.palihigh.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=411467&type=d
