Lilese Skin Care has moved to the Medical Building across from Gelson’s.

Moves Up One Block to 910 Via Medical Building

Lilese Skincare, a fixture at 861 Via de la Paz for 36 years, has relocated a block away in the medical building across from Gelson’s.

Owner Liliana Blake told Circling the News on May 23 that the move was purely a business decision because had she stayed, “My rent would skyrocket.”

She had been paying $4,000 a month. With a new five-year lease, her landlord wanted to raise her monthly rent to $5,100 the first year and three percent every year after that.

“We would not be able to make it,” Blake said. “We can’t charge customers $100 for eyebrows.”

Last year Blake spent $5,000 just to have the air conditioning replaced in the store. That will benefit the new tenants, a nail salon.

Blake has no hard feelings. “Everything is cool. It’s just business, that’s how it is,” she said.

“I wish the nail salon all the luck in the world.”

Lilese is a premier full-service skin-care salon, using skin-care products such as Skin Ceuticals and G.M. Collin.

She and longtime employees Crystal Jochen and Carmen Raw will continue to offer the same services at the new location.

There are various facial treatments, including a teen facial, just for youth 18 and under, which features a deep cleanse, exfoliation and extractions followed by an anti-bacterial treatment.

Many clients opt for the Lilese Signature Facial, which includes cleansing, surface exfoliations, a gentle peel, steam, extractions, microdermabrasion and custom mask.

Waxing is available for men and women and includes arms, underarms, back, Brazilian, bikini, leg and eyebrows.

The salon also offers specials such as the Derm Renewal Peel Package (five treatments for $400), which includes deep exfoliation that combines Lactic and Glycolic acid with Arginine to promote hydration and is typically $100 per treatment.

Blake recommends appointments, but according to her website, “walk-ins are welcome, and we will do our best to accommodate.”

A reviewer on Yelp wrote, “I have been going to Lilese for 23 years. What more can I say?  The setting is serene, the products are European, and the people… warm, friendly, experienced, and helpful. Liliana, the owner, talks to you like a sister, and even though the products and services are top-of-the-line, the explanations are down-to-earth.  I have gotten waxing, facials, peels, nails and they’re all heavenly.”
