DUPLICATE BRIDGE
By Sue Pascoe · July 24, 2024
Those playing the popular twice-monthly Duplicate Bridge game will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26, at Palisades Library Community Room, 861 Alma Real. Space is very limited, so if you are not already on the organizer’s email list you will have to contact her so you can be notified when you can RSVP for the game.
RSVPs first come, first served, so everyone has a chance. Contact the organizer at [email protected] to be placed on the email list for notifications.
PALISADES LIBRARY FILM SOCIETY
The Library is launching the Palisades Film Society this Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. in the Community Room, 861 Alma Real. There will be six films by or about L.A. Dreamers on each Saturday in July and August. These films are curated by our resident film expert, Raymond Parker, who will provide insights into the films and their makers.
Unfortunately, because of licensing restrictions, the title can’t be printed but it is a 1975 film starring Warren Beatty, Julie Christie and Goldie Hawn that chronicles a Beverly Hills hairdresser trying to open a salon during the 1968 election.
NICE SURPRISE
What is it? https://www.circlingthenews.com/what-is-it-31/ ran on July 18 and showed a cast-iron mold. Howard Yonet said he dug it out of demolition bin outside of a well-known Patisserie that was undergoing renovation. “These days I use it to make corn bread biscuits,” he wrote. He sent several over to this editor to sample today. What a delightful surprise—and they were absolutely delicious! Thank you, Howard, – you made my day!
