The Tramonto Bulkhead was damaged in the fire.

The Castellammare Homeowners Association Board is holding a community meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at the Santa Monica YMCA community room, 1332 6th Street. RSVP: cmhopali@gmail.com

The meeting will have an update on the Tramonto Bulkhead which caught fire and has been compromised. Neighbors reported that the wood railroad ties were on fire and a resident who stayed during evacuations, flagged down a fire truck to put out the fire. This road is one of the only ways in and out for residents, and it is imperative that the issue is addressed. Most of the homes on Tramonto and Castellammare streets were destroyed in the fire.

The community event will provide information to Castellammare residents about debris removal and the rebuilding process.  Representatives from United States Army Corps of Engineers will be there as well to provide information on their work regarding debris removal.

There will be information about house hardening ideas, members will be able to pay dues and people who have not joined can receive information and an application.

There will be food and drink, and the volunteer block captains will discuss their roles.

CMHO Board President Kim Feder said, “All of us on the Castellammare Homeowners Association Board are genuinely concerned about YOU, your families and our beautiful Castellammare community.”

Feder also supplied the following notes:

  • If phase 1 was deferred on your property and you opt-in for USACE Debris Removal, they will do Phase 1 (removal of toxic materials), test your soil, remove asbestos if found, and then complete the full debris removal of your property. Please know that the deadline to submit your application to opt-in is March 31.
  • The deadline for SBA loan applications for businesses and homeowners affected by the wildfires has been extended to March 31.
  • Major Stephen Austria of USACE is leading the outreach team in Pacific Palisades. He is available to help you with questions, meetings and visits to your home.  Please reach out to him (907) 371-7254.  Texting works well.
