At a press conference on Swarthmore Avenue in Pacific Palisades Rick Caruso and store owner Elyse Walker announced that she would reopen her store in the space that was formerly occupied by St. Laurent. Her flagship store on Antioch burned in the Palisades Fire. Together with Caruso, Walker said she is committed to rebuilding in the wonderful community of Palisades.

Caruso, who took the dias first, pointed out the workers who were tending damaged areas of the Village, during the press event. He said it was the first step in reopening the outdoor shopping area in early or mid-2026. “We’re working on restoring the property to bring families back,” he said. “We’re going to reconstruct the public park inside the Village.

“We’re going to fund the revitalization of the streetscapes around Palisades Village, including the sidewalks and landscaping,” he said, “on both sides of the street.”

Caruso plans to bring the Christmas Tree and Menorah lighting celebrations back in December. He also promised the announcement of a new restaurant in the coming months.

“When a retailer chooses to invest here, it is a powerful voice of confidence in a bright future,” Caruso said. “Both Elyse and I have a shared determination to bring back the Palisades better and stronger, ensuring this community remains a place where families flourish, businesses succeed and neighborhoods thrive.”

Caruso CEO Corinne Verdery was asked if all stores had committed to returning. “The majority said they planned to come back,” she said and noted that Yves Saint Laurent is not coming back, but that led to the announcement that former resident Elyse Walker, who raised her two boys in the Highlands, and opened her shop on Antioch 25 years ago, will move into the space.

Verdery said that Walker, who has shops in New York (Tribeca, the Upper East Side, Southampton), a shop in Newport Beach, St. Helena and Calabasas, has had a long-time relationship with Yves Saint Laurent.

Walker will have the corner store at Sunset and Swarthmore, which was formerly Saint Laurent, but also keep her Towne store in the Center of the Village.

“I opened the first elysewalker location in the Pacific Palisades because I saw the huge opportunity to bring fashion retail to the area.  I knew that I wanted a store to feel like a home base within the community. More than a store, it was where friends and family got together to connect,” Walker said. “Re-opening in the Palisades and moving to the Village is incredibly exciting and important as we focus our efforts on rebuilding and supporting this incredibly strong and resilient community.  We cannot wait to be back in our beloved Palisades community.”

Pacific Palisades Co-Mayor Ted McGinley was also at the event today. He said his wife co-mayor Gigi Rice was at home taking care of fire-related business, but Gigi wished that she had been there, too.

“I have known Rick Caruso and his family for a long time. I love them dearly,” said McGinley whose wife and two boys are 30-year residents of Pacific Palisades. “We love this space; we love this village.

“We’re not going anywhere,” McGinley said.
