L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley.

Did Fire Chief Kristin Crowley or L.A. Mayor Karen Bass request air space access because of a presidential visit when the fire first started on January 7 around 10 a.m.? The winds had not yet come up and did not reach peak until later that evening.

Bass did not return from Ghana until January 8, so she could not have made the request. The person standing in for her Marqueece Harris-Dawson was emailed to see if he made that request. Did Crowley make the request? Given the prediction of high winds, it seems like that should have been in place.

According to reports, President Joe Biden and wife Jill arrived in Los Angeles on the evening of Monday, January 6, and are reported to have gone to a hotel in the Santa Monica/West L.A. area, where they stayed until Wednesday, January 8.

That day, the Bidens visited Cedars Sinai Hospital because his granddaughter Naomi Biden Neal, 31, Hunter Biden’s oldest daughter, gave birth via C-section.

According to one press report “The Bidens arrived at Cedars-Sinai at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday and spent roughly 40 minutes at the hospital. Biden’s son Hunter — Naomi’s father — arrived at the hospital with his wife Melissa and son Beau.”

One reader sent me this message “Are you aware about air operations were prohibited at the beginning of the fire. Not because of the wind, but because the president was in town.” He said the hospital had also been shut down while the President was there.

Palisadians are well aware of the air space prohibitions because the former Vice-President Kamala Harris lived in Brentwood and her presence on the Fourth of July did not allow vintage planes to fly overhead one year. The sky divers were almost cancelled, too, but according to Palisades Americanism Parade Association (PAPA) President Matt Rodman, it was only through the diligent efforts of PAPA Board Member Daphne Gronich who “did an excellent job of navigating with the secret service that the sky divers were allowed.”

Reuters reported, “During Biden’s visit, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued temporary flight restrictions in Los Angeles airspace for VIP movement, according to a spokesperson.

“But during that time, the FAA spokesperson said in an email, ‘Pilots conducting firefighting operations could fly in the restricted airspace provided they coordinate beforehand with air traffic control,” as outlined in paragraph A of the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM).”

We all heard That sir support was grounded until
    Biden left the area.
We all heard that news conference
At around 10:30am – the fire had not taken off, people were driving to Calvary to pick up their kids, it was not chaos yet, BUT, I noticed
NO AIR SUPPORT and I even complained to fire fighters on the ground.
I have lived in highlands forever, I have never seen
    NO air Supprt.
We depend on it and the Reservoir water that they never told us was empty
