A reader wrote, “There was a body found yesterday on the Lachman fire road. They said it was suicide, but the body was posed with a towel/sheet wrapping the head and the gun on his chest. Hard to believe it was suicide. “
CTN contacted the L.A. County Coroner’s office, who responded that the death of a white/Caucasian male had occurred on a hillside on May 30 and the formal pronouncement of his death was Tuesday, May 30, at 9:52 a.m.

Our neighborhood is in shock with the news that our beloved “Hal” would have taken his own life. Hal and his wife Cathy were planning on moving to Orange County on June 7th to be closer to their son Matthew. Cathy has not been well and they were very excited about the move. Hal always walked his dog in the area near his home on Akron. He had undergone knee surgery, and it would be hard to imagine him walking up Lachman Lane all the way to the fire road.. He was friendly and kind to all who knew him or met him while out walking his dog.
If you have any further news or updates about Hal, please share them on “Circling the News”.
