If you hear gun shots or other “special effect” on December 10 and 11, do not call LAPD, don’t check the Citizen app, do not go the neighborhood gossip site, do not write this editor. A new movie Crime 101 is being shot at the corner of Antioch and Swarthmore in the storefront that was formerly Petit Amis.

Local schools should take note of the “No Parking” signs that will be in place from about December 4 through 13.

Posted “No Parking” signs will be in place on Swarthmore, Via de la Paz and Antioch from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from December 4 to 6, December 9 and December 12 and 13.

No parking will be enforced during the filming on December 10 and 11 between 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.  on Swarthmore Avenue, Antioch Street-La Cruz Drive. Additional no parking signs will be on Via de la Paz between Sunset and Antioch; Swarthmore Avenue between La Cruz Drive and Bowdoin Street; Antioch Street between Sunset Boulevard and Haverford Avenue and 15300 to 15314 Sunset Boulevard.

The production company Mad Leo Productions has a FilmLA permit. On the permit it notes that there will be interior and exterior filming with sound, simulated police in uniform, simulated emergency service, atmospheric smoke, breaking glass and intermittent pedestrian/traffic control.

Crime 101 is a crime thriller based on Don Winslow’s 2021 novella about the high-level jewel thefts taking place up and down the Pacific Coast that police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick doubts the cartel theory. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Halle Berry.

Bart Layton wrote the script and is directing the film for Amazon MGM Studios.
